The Scotsman Data Conference

  • Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh 11 Queen Street Edinburgh, Scotland, EH2 1JQ United Kingdom (map)

Data and artificial intelligence have played an increasingly prominent role in recent elections. With numerous democratic elections scheduled for 2024 in countries including the UK, the United States, and India, the impact of data and AI—both positive and negative—will be significant.

This event will explore how rogue actors are spreading disinformation and deploying convincing deepfakes to influence elections and undermine trust in democracy. It will also address how democratic societies can counter these threats and, more importantly, how better future democracies can be built by effectively regulating and controlling AI and data.

Experts will discuss these and other issues related to the complex interplay between artificial intelligence, data, and democracy.
