UK government launches second challenge prize to reward UK-led breakthroughs in artificial intelligence for a Net Zero energy future

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology has just launched the second Manchester Prize, this year the multi-million-pound challenge prize is seeking cutting-edge solutions that use AI to help the UK reach our Net-zero energy targets and support Clean Energy Systems.

Between 19 November 2024 and 17 January 2025, entries are open for UK-led organisations to submit their bold and brilliant ideas, with up to 10 of the most promising solutions will each be supported with £100,000 in seed funding, up to £60,000 of free compute and additional non-financial support to develop solutions capable of winning the £1 million grand prize in spring 2026.
