The Public Sector AI Taskforce (AITF) was set up in Autumn 2023 to encourage and support the safe adoption of AI in the Scottish Public Sector.
It is not a policy making body but instead works to reduce the risk of AI adoption by bringing together those working in the field to share examples of best practice, areas of risk and as a safe environment to ask the important questions which many public bodies need to ask about this emerging technology.
The task force, whose membership of over 150 individuals, comes from all over the Scottish public sector, have heard from speakers on areas as diverse as health, procurement, and education. Within meetings opportunities have been identified for collaboration and efficiency on specific AI use cases as well as identifying areas for shared investment and development.
The interest in the AITF has been so high that we have recently started the process of creating a range of working groups, where more sector specific, detailed information can be shared and discussed.
