Dilraj Sokhi-Watson

Director of Equate Scotland

Dilraj is the Director of Equate Scotland, which is a national policy, research and development organisation focussing on women’s underrepresentation within the science, engineering, technology, and the built environment industries. She is an experienced third sector practitioner with a mission of being an empowerment changemaker for the disadvantaged and marginalised. She has worked on diverse projects for nearly two decades in the development and private sector. For the last five years she has held senior programme management, policy development and executive roles within national charities. Dilraj’s work has been always guided by her personal values- rights based and intersectional. For the last three years, she has worked strategically on various grass roots interventions, building the capacity of Black Ethnic Minority (BME) women, that have borne the disproportionate impact of COVID-19.

With master’s degrees in Business Administration and Carbon Management, Dilraj brings cross sector expertise in urban development with subject area expertise in the themes of environment, poverty, and social capital (with a focus on gender mainstreaming). Additionally, Dilraj has significant grass roots experience of working with marginalised groups.

As a trained project manager her core competencies are strategic planning and execution, evidence driven programme management, change management, risk management and fundraising. Dilraj also has ongoing trustee responsibilities in local and international organisations.
